As we take our 'Next Chapter' message from the West Coast to the East Coast, let's take a moment to look at what it means and what the experts are saying.

On April 17th at Tribeca Grill in New York, Wine Australia will replicate a tasting that took the West Coast by storm.

Allow us to backtrack. Back in mid to late 2012 interests were piqued with rumours of an Australian 'comeback' and industry were starting to ask questions about Australia. What was the next step for Australia? How would it re-emerge? What would the category look like? Was there room for a shift in perceptions and would anybody care?

Jump to mid-January in San Francisco when Wine Australia crafted a trade and media tasting that addressed all these questions. 'Next Chapter' was a look at Australia as a whole. If you think about the Australian wine industry as pie then and what US shores (North American shores for that matter) have seen so far a is just a small slice. There's a whole country out there waiting to be discovered. That original slice still has its place and is very important to the category but we threw open the doors and invited industry to take a glimpse at an Australia they hadn't seen before. Our goal was to create a complete picture of Australia--from the classics we know and love, to new styles of favourite varietals, to curious small production wineries and little known regions.

Here's what a few of the media had to say--it seems there is room for change and they do care after all.

Signs point to renewed interest as Wine Australia touts diversity.” – Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator
Australia has a lot going for it as a producer of fine wines.” - Richard Jennings, Huffington Post
Oh, how a decade can change things” – Rick Bakas, rickbakas.com
