Stone Temple Pilots hit the mainstage at Williamsburg in one of the most anticipated shows of the summer series.

Monday brought much needed cooler temperatures following a sweltering heatwave that affected the entire east coast of the US... unfortunately that change also brought some rain, making the start of Monday night's show a rather wet affair.  Alas, all went well as the rain stopped, the clouds parted and made way for a spectacular sunset over Manhattan ahead of the main event hitting the stage.   We poured five wines including:

  • De Bortoli "Emeri" Sparkling Pinot Grigio
  • Woop Woop Verdelho
  • Shoofly "Buzzcut" white blend
  • Yalumba "Y Series" Viognier
  • Wakefield Pinot Noir

Stone Temple Pilots (STP) were joined by openers Rose Hill Drive, who entertained a wet but eager crowd with their enthusiastic set.  The crowd grew increasingly restless as the wait for STP seemed to grow ever longer, with loud cheers at the end of every song playing from the stage PA system.  STP finally hit the stage at 8:30pm and ripped straight into a set consisting of fan favorites Crackerman, Wicked Garden and Vasoline.  In fact their set was peppered with fan favorites and included their huge hits Plush, Sex Type Thing and Interstate Love Song.  The band were in form and Scott Weiland's vocals sounded great, albeit a little low as the sound mix didn't seem quite right.

It was a great show and thankfully it ended up being a dry show as the weather cooperated.  It's a big couple of weeks at the Waterfront with another show on Friday night with Eugene Mirman and Pretty Good Friends, including a full set from indie favs They Might Be Giants followed by Death Cab for Cutie's sold-out show on Tuesday August 2nd!  Keep up-to-date with all that's happening in Williamsburg, along with photos from all the shows, on our Facebook page.  You can also go here for a list of retailers stocking a selection of the wines being poured across the shows.
